The Original
Seven Forms of Lightsaber Combat
-
Form I: Shii-Cho - Simple form taught to younglings as part of their
original training. Kit Fisto uses this for as his main weapon.
-
Form II: Makashi - An elegant form designed from lightsaber vs. lightsaber
combat. Count Dooku employs this form with good results.
-
Form III: Soresu - Very popular defensive form, designed to block blaster
weapons. It is also very resilient in lightsaber vs. lightsaber combat. Used
by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
-
Form IV: Ataru - Acrobatic form, although leaves weaknesses (as shown by
defeat of Qui-Gon Jinn). Employed by Yoda.
-
Form V: Shien / Djem So - Aggressive form of Soresu. Designed for
lightsaber vs. lightsaber combat. Employed by Anakin Skywalker and unknown Mon
Calamari Jedi.
-
Form VI: Niman - All of the Form VI practitioners were killed at the
Battle of Geonosis. It was a balanced blend of Forms I, III, IV and V.
-
Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad Form using unusual attacking patterns to confuse
the opponent. Also reflects anger and dark energy if one is utilising Vaapad
while on the light side. Mace Windu created and mastered Vaapad.
New Jedi Order
Luke Skywalker built the 'New
Jedi Order' after Star Wars Episode VI. These styles can be utilised in
Star Wars computer games like Jedi Knight: Jedi
Academy and Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.
-
Fast
style - As the style implies, short and quick motions with the lightsaber.
-
Medium style - Based on a equilibrium between speed and power.
-
Strong style - Form which sacrifices speed for power.
